Evolve Pop Culture Expo was more than a pop culture convention. Over one action-packed weekend, the Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds became a hub for cosplayers, gamers, performers, artists, photographers and pop culture fans, bringing together some of the best local and Australian talent.

Evolve Pop Culture Expo took place on Saturday, 12 September and Sunday, 13 September 2026, in Perth, Western Australia. The event offered visitors a packed program of cosplay, live entertainment, competitions, stage performances, creative showcases, gaming, shopping and opportunities to meet fellow fans, creators and performers.

Photo Wall

The biggest highlight of Evolve Pop Culture Expo was its celebration of cosplay and the people behind the characters.

From the competition and parade to the live stage and dedicated photography experiences, cosplay was at the heart of the weekend, giving Perth’s creative community a place to perform, connect and bring their favourite characters to life.

Cosplay Takes Centre Stage at Evolve Pop Culture Expo

If there was one thing impossible to miss at Evolve Pop Culture Expo, it was the cosplay. Across the weekend, the venue became a parade of characters from anime, video games, comics, movies and every corner of pop culture, with cosplayers bringing their favourite characters to life through incredible costumes and performances.

Evolve gave the cosplay community plenty of opportunities to shine. The cosplay competition brought performers onto the stage to showcase their costumes, craftsmanship and character work, while the cosplay photography competition offered another way to celebrate the artistry behind the costumes through photography.

From elaborate builds and impressive details to characters that simply made you stop and look twice, the cosplay helped give Evolve its personality. Everywhere you turned, there was another costume, another character and another photograph waiting to be captured.

Artists, Creators and Vendors

For fans looking to shop, discover new creators or take home something unique, the Artist Alley and vendor area offered plenty to explore.

Evolve Pop Culture Expo brought together a diverse range of artists, creators, traders and exhibitors, showcasing original artwork, handmade creations, collectibles, merchandise and fandom-inspired products. From independent artists and creative small businesses to specialist retailers, the exhibition floor provided plenty of opportunities to discover something new and connect with the people behind the creations.

Supporting Breast Cancer Care Through Photography

At Evolve Pop Culture Expo, I continued my support for breast cancer awareness by proudly wearing my purple bra while working behind the Cosplay Photowall.

Although my IGA Purple Bra Day fundraising campaign has now finished, I am keeping the support going. High-resolution versions of the photographs from Evolve are available for purchase, and the money raised from these sales will be carried forward to the next breast cancer fundraising event in October.

Breast Cancer Care WA provides specialist breast care nursing, mental health support, and practical and financial assistance to people across Western Australia affected by breast cancer.

So, if you find a favourite photograph in the Evolve gallery, purchasing the high-resolution version means you get a photograph to keep while helping me continue supporting an important cause.

The Purple Bra Day campaign may be over, but the support continues. 💜
