Hoshi Con pt1
29
November, 2025
Hoshi Con brought together artists, cosplayers, performers, fans, and creators from across the community for two unforgettable days celebrating anime and Japanese pop culture.
Held at the Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds on November 29–30, 2025, the event transformed both indoor and outdoor spaces into a vibrant, living showcase of creativity. From the moment doors opened, the energy across the grounds was constant and contagious.

Stationed at the dedicated Photo Wall
Throughout the weekend, I was stationed at the dedicated pop-up photo wall alongside Kat, capturing portraits from morning through to close.
The photo wall quickly became a focal point of the convention, drawing in cosplayers eager to have their hard work professionally photographed.
It was a space where confidence, craftsmanship, and personality came together in front of the lens.

Cosplay Community
The cosplay competitions were guided by our amazing judges: Cataclysm, Grangertales, and Roguelin (@roguelin_), all highly respected figures in the cosplay community known for their creativity, attention to detail, and expertise.
While special guests @roxanne.kho and @zackt._ were sadly unable to attend due to severe flooding in the Philippines, we send them our best wishes for safety and recovery.
The weekend was expertly hosted by @pavlovaface and @theonlymaven, keeping the energy high and the schedule flowing smoothly.

Beyond the Lens: Culture, Cars, and Community
Outside of the photo wall, Hoshi Con delivered on every front.
Artist Alley buzzed with original artwork and handmade pieces, exhibitors showcased anime and manga treasures, and panels and gaming zones stayed busy all weekend.
Itasha and JDM cars drew crowds, JPOP Idol performances lit up the stages, live Anime DJs kept the atmosphere alive, and Japanese food trucks fuelled long days of exploration.

A Safe, Inclusive Space
More than anything, Hoshi Con reinforced its commitment to being a safe, inclusive, and family friendly event.
The sense of community was unmistakable, with newcomers and long-time fans alike sharing the space with respect and enthusiasm.
Being part of the weekend from behind the camera was a privilege, and the memories captured at the photo wall are a testament to just how special the Hoshi Fam truly is.
