Cosplay Community
Supanova Comic Con & Gaming brought together an incredible mix of cosplayers from across Western Australia. From detailed armor builds to expertly crafted props, the creativity and dedication on display were outstanding.
The cosplay zone was filled with energy, passion, and imagination. One of the standout moments this year was the kids’ cosplay competition, where young fans took to the stage with confidence and joy. Their performances added a fun and heartwarming layer to the weekend’s celebrations.

For comic book fans
Comic book vendors from all over Australia flew in for the Perth Supanova weekend, adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere. These dedicated vendors brought with them a treasure trove of rare and exclusive comic books, graphic novels, and memorabilia, creating a haven for comic enthusiasts.
From Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, vendors showcased a diverse array of collections, providing attendees with the unique opportunity to discover and purchase items that are not typically available in Perth. Their presence not only enriched the event but also highlighted the strong sense of community and passion within the Australian comic book scene.
This convergence of vendors from across the country made the Supanova Perth a truly special and unforgettable experience for all comic book fans.

Left out again!
As someone who has been photographing cosplay and pop culture events across Australia for years, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the creative community that conventions like Supanova bring together.
That is why it is disappointing to once again not be granted a media pass, even after applying well in advance. I was not alone. Several core photographers of Perth who have supported this event year after year were also left out, with little notice or explanation.
What makes this more frustrating is that I experienced similar issues last year. At the time, I was told that Supanova was looking to improve how it engages with creatives. Given what I’ve experienced this year, those words clearly fell on deaf ears. No improvement has been made.
Photographers are not just there to fill space. We help capture the energy, build excitement, and provide the visuals that keep these events alive online. When local creatives are shut out, it sends a message that our work and our community are not being valued.
Still, I showed up. I shot with a few cosplayers outside the venue, and I will continue to be here for the people who inspire me to do what I do. Because in the end, this has always been about the community, not the passes.
To Supanova, I hope future events reflect more support for the creatives who help you shine.

Thank you to the following:
A big thank you to the team at Supanova Comic Con and Gaming for putting together another exciting weekend in Perth. Despite the overall energy of the event, there was disappointment behind the scenes. The delay in issuing media passes and the last-minute communication (if at all) created unnecessary stress for many of us trying to play our role in the cosplay community and support the event.
Looking ahead, Adelaide is set to run from October 31 to November 2, and Brisbane will follow the weekend after, from November 7 to 9, 2025. As for Perth, we’ll have to wait a little longer, with dates yet to be announced.
