Supanova brought fans face-to-face with the biggest names in comics, anime, manga, sci-fi, fantasy, TV, movies, and animation!

This spectacular event unfolded over a thrilling weekend at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre on June 29-30, 2024.

Bringing the best of pop culture, Supanova Comic-Con and Gaming graced Perth with exclusive panels, star-studded guests, epic cosplay contests, anime showings, and a treasure trove of comics and memorabilia.

Supanova in Perth 2024 features an exciting lineup of guests. Notable attendees include Sophia Di Martino (Loki, Casualty) J. Michael Straczynski, James Marsters (Buffy, Angel, Dragon Ball Super), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries), Aly and AJ Michalka (Aly & AJ), Linsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), Vernon Wells (Power Rangers Time Force), Steve Bisley (Mad Max), and many more including writers, comic book authors and film & TV Stars!

Cosplay Community

Supanova Comic Con and Gaming is where Western Australia’s cosplayers unite to bring their imaginative ideas to life. Their work ranges from detailed armor to carefully crafted props, each piece demonstrating a commitment to excellence.

Amid the energetic cosplay zone, the community continuously surpasses creative expectations, and 2024 was no exception. Attendees were captivated by a stunning display of visual artistry, providing numerous opportunities for photographers and showcasing the extraordinary talent within the community.

For comic book fans

Comic book vendors from all over Australia flew in for the Perth Supanova weekend, adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere. These dedicated vendors brought with them a treasure trove of rare and exclusive comic books, graphic novels, and memorabilia, creating a haven for comic enthusiasts.

From Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, vendors showcased a diverse array of collections, providing attendees with the unique opportunity to discover and purchase items that are not typically available in Perth. Their presence not only enriched the event but also highlighted the strong sense of community and passion within the Australian comic book scene.

This convergence of vendors from across the country made the Supanova Perth a truly special and unforgettable experience for all comic book fans.

The Media Pass

Securing a media pass for the event proved to be a challenging endeavor. Communication with the convention organizers was inadequate, affecting not only myself but also many of the regular convention photographers from Perth. The lack of timely and clear responses made the process unnecessarily difficult and stressful for everyone involved.

Although I eventually obtained a media pass, my time at the event was limited due to other commitments. This restriction hindered my ability to capture as many photos as I had planned, and I couldn’t cover the event as comprehensively as it deserved.

Moving forward, it’s crucial for the convention to improve their communication and support for media professionals to ensure a smoother experience for future events.
